2011 Alumni Awards – Roy Topham ’72 (MPA ’74)

A member of the National Alumni Board from 1981 to 1982 and the Chancellor’s Advisory Council from 2000 to 2003, Topham honored for service with the Valuable Alumni Award.

A member of the National Alumni Board from 1981 to 1982 and the Chancellor’s Advisory Council from 2000 to 2003, Roy B. Topham has amassed an impressive record of service to TCU.  He has served on the Neeley School of Business International Board of Visitors since 2001 and previously was a member of the Stanley Block Chair Steering Committee at the business school.

He earned the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 1972 and the Master of Professional Accountancy in 1974.  In 1973-74, he was a charter member of the Educational Investment Fund, a nationally recognized student directed investment fund.  After earning his master’s degree, he worked at Ernst & Young until 1981, when he founded Keenum & Topham, where he serves as managing partner.  He is a former member of the ethics committee of the Texas State Society of CPAs and a former member of the editorial board for its CPA Magazine.

A Horned Frog football letterman since 1970, Mr. Topham was a member of the Athletics Taskforce of The Commission on the Future of TCU and the Committee of 100.  He and his wife, Laurie Hannon Topham ’74, are enthusiastic supporters of Horned Frog men’s and women’s athletics.

While he has served as the executive and voting director of the Jane & John Justin Foundation, the foundation has taken the lead in building the John Justin Athletic Center, Sam Baugh Indoor Practice Facility, Jane Justin Field House for soccer, Varsity Intercollegiate Strength and Conditioning Building (under construction) and reconstruction and enlarged football locker room (planned).

Mr. Topham is a member of Fort Worth’s Arborlawn United Methodist Church, where he is former chairman of the finance committee and has been a kindergarten teacher for many years. The Tophams are Patrons of the TCU Frog Club and members of the Addison & Randolph Clark Society.

They have two daughters:  Sarah Topham, a University of Arkansas softball letterman, and Amy Topham, a U.S. Navy Petty Officer First Class.
