On the field, the Frogs were all business, limiting San Diego State to 31 yards rushing on Nov. 18. That stout defense was the trend all season, as TCU ranked as high as third nationally against the run. It helped carry the team to a second-place finish in the Mountain West and the program’s fourth 10-win season in five years. The Frogs defeated Northern Illinois Huskies, 37-7, on Dec. 19 in the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego. The Frogs entered the game ranked No. 25, but they figure to climb higher in the final polls.
