Senior Whitney Gipson soared an NCAA record 22 feet 8 inches to win the women’s long jump gold medal at the 2012 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in March. Gipson hit the historic mark on her fifth attempt and tied the all-time NCAA record set in 2002. Her mark tied for the world lead in 2012 and is an Olympic standard.
Gipson became the first female Frog to win an individual NCAA Championship in track and field.
