From the Chancellor: Lead On, Now and Always
FROM THE MOMENT I STEPPED ONTO TCU’S CAMPUS, I FELT A CONNECTION, A WARMTH THAT RESONATED DEEPLY. My heart has always been drawn to the students. Every decision, every initiative and every class I teach is fueled by a desire to enhance their Horned Frog experience.
TCU’s transformation since 2003 has been remarkable, thanks to so many dedicated, passionate and visionary Horned Frogs. Through the 2004 strategic plan, Vision in Action: Planning TCU’s Future, which granted $100 million for our beautiful Campus Commons and a new university union, we revitalized the physical campus, setting the stage for our many 21st-century triumphs.

During Spring Commencement 2006, I told the graduating class that our work was just beginning, that our goals would — and should — be lofty. We didn’t want to limit our aspirations.
After we turned the mega-parking lot in the old center of campus into the now beloved Campus Commons, we built the Intellectual Commons and upgraded our historic Mary Couts Burnett Library. Each brick laid and each program launched was with our students in mind. Witnessing their growth, both academically and personally, is one of my greatest joys.
Our athletic achievements, including the Horned Frog women’s basketball team’s recent capture of its first Big 12 crown and trip to the Elite Eight, are celebrations of student dedication. Beyond the wins, it’s about the sense of belonging and pride they instill in our community. I cherish every opportunity to connect with alumni and fans by sharing in these moments.
And our growth! From 8,500 when I arrived in 2003 to around 13,000 students today — and with plans detailed in this issue of TCU Magazine to support our long-range goal of a 17,500-strong student body — we’re continuing to create a vibrant, dynamic living and learning community.
Looking back on so much transformational progress, the next decade of growth and investment in our students will take TCU to a whole new level.
As I transition to Chancellor Emeritus and Daniel W. Pullin becomes TCU’s 11th Chancellor, my focus will remain on our students. I’ll engage in friend-raising and fundraising, serve as the chief enrollment officer and teach classes focused on education and leadership.
I’m excited to see what the future holds, knowing that under Chancellor Pullin’s leadership, TCU will continue to prioritize its mission and values, enhance the student experience and reach new heights as a leading national university. Our aspirations remain lofty, and together, we will continue to “Lead On.”
It sure has been a fun ride. Go Frogs … always and forever!

All TCU students, alumni and the University as a whole, along with the city of Fort Worth have benefited tremendously from the leadership, character and vision of Chancellor Boschini.
I know he will continue to help build the TCU story for many years to come.
