SPRINGTIME AT TEXAS CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY IS A TIME OF NEW BEGINNINGS AS STUDENTS EMBARK ON NEW ACADEMIC JOURNEYS, FORM LASTING FRIENDSHIPS AND CREATE UNFORGETTABLE MEMORIES. A new beginning is on the horizon for Megan and me as well. With the approval of the Board of Trustees, I’m excited to share that I will transition to Chancellor Emeritus in June 2025. In this new role, I’ll continue to strengthen bonds between TCU and the world through fundraising, serving as chief enrollment officer, teaching students and, importantly, engaging in what I refer to as friend-raising.
Friendship and community engagement are part of TCU’s DNA. Those values propelled this great university from its earliest days and continue to fuel our growth. In this issue of TCU Magazine, you’ll discover the inspiring four-year research projects undertaken by future doctors at the Anne Burnett Marion School of Medicine at Texas Christian University. Be inspired by the faculty and local physicians who befriend and support these students as they develop projects that will advance medical knowledge and benefit the community.
In this issue, you’ll join students on TCU Campus Recreation’s full moon canoeing excursion to Benbrook Lake, where a group of adventurous Horned Frogs unplug to connect with nature and one another. And you’ll learn about our growing population of international students, who bring unique perspectives, enrich our campus and extend our web of friendships beyond borders.
Our Horned Frog leaders are creating new relationships far and wide. Dr. Till MacIvor Meyn, a professor of music theory and composition, previewed his original work in Sweden last year. TCU graduates and sisters Sarah Means ’12 and Lizzie Means Duplantis ’04 are making waves in the fashion industry with their Miron Crosby boot line, proving that strong relationships are as vital in entrepreneurship as they are everywhere else.
These stories, and many more, highlight the transformational impact of friendship. It’s one of TCU’s many unique qualities — something that students, alumni and our great network of friends know very well — and it’s what will continue to drive our success for generations to come.
I look forward to seeing you soon on campus.
Go Frogs … now & forever!
