Stadium for its Big 12 debut. The outfield walls were moved in between 5 and 10 feet to correct some inaccurate distances when the stadium opened in 2003. New distances are 330 at the left field line, 375 in left and right field power alleys, 400 to center field and 325 at the right field line. Crews also added new warning track dirt at the base of the fences, which all got new padding. The bullpens for both home and visiting teams were expanded.
For fans, new seating along the first and third base sides increases capacity to about 4,500. The popular berm along the right field side now is terraced to improve sight lines, reduce chance for injury for children who play there and aid drainage and irrigation. All the improvements are the first phase of a $8.5 million master plan for the venue. Future phases will include renovated locker rooms, larger training facilities and a student-section patio in left field.
