October Hill Farm in Hudson Oaks has been the home for TCU Equestrian since 2010. On 200 acres overlooking the Clear Fork of the Trinity River, the complex features four barns, 14 pastures and a 28,800-square-foot enclosed arena with state-of-the-art Terra2000 footing. TCU riders use the 20-stall North Barn, automatic waterers and two wash stalls with on-demand hot water systems, plus a tack room, which the riders have decorated with TCU posters. Horses get premium hay and grain, their own 10-foot by 10-foot stalls, medical care and daily turnouts. “It’s pretty upscale,” says Western coach Kindel Huffman ’08. “The indoor facility for hunt seat is among the nicest facilities in the nation. It is great for training and for recruiting.” TCU uses two pastures, including an outdoor arena which was built for home matches. Alums Wendy Davis Gerrish ’99 MLA and Erin Davis Walsh ‘01 run the farm. View a gallery of images from October Hill Farm at magazine.tcu.edu/webextras.
