Booted off “America’s Got Talent,” John Angeles ’05 landed in “Stomp.”
John Angeles ’05 may have gotten the boot from David Hasselhoff when he appeared on “America’s Got Talent” in 2007, but the professional percussionist landed another gig with the touring company of “Stomp.”
The Fort Worth native recently returned home for a week-long run at Bass Performance Hall.
He said the high-energy dance and percussion routines of stomp were a tough, but not insurmountable challenge. He especially enjoyed developing his own solo — a broom routine that comes at the end of the show’s first number.
“I was used to playing with drumsticks before, and now it’s poles, trash can lids, things I never developed the muscles to use,” he told the Dallas Observer. “Over the last year, I’ve gotten stronger in ways I never would have imagined.
