The Frogs bowl ’em over once again.

TCU 28 — East Carolina 14
1999 Mobile Alabama Bowl

Defensive End Aaron Shobel, who won the lineman of the game award, led the Frogs with seven tackles, holding the Pirates to a minus-16 yards rushing.

Quarterback Casey Printers, the GMAC Player of the Game, threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns. “I did my one-eleventh. This is a team, and I’m just one person.”

Running back LaDaninian Tomlinson rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns against the Pirates. “We had determination. After a 1-and-3 start, we didn’t want to go through a losing season any more. I think we proved our point.”

Horned Frogs quickly adopted Mobile’s Mardi Gras heritage.

Coach Franchione takes the prize. “It means a lot to our team, it means a lot to our seniors who at this time two years ago were 1-10. This completes it for them.”

Of the 34,000 game fans, more than half were Frogs. Deep in the heart of Crimson Tide country, Alabama fans became Frogs for a day, chanting, “Roll, Frogs!” late in the game.
