The first-ever TEDx talk at TCU explores the oft-heard phrase of the university mission statement. Students and faculty describe what they think it means.

The TCU mission statement calls for it. Professors teach about it. And in the spring, TCU students organized a semester-long dialogue to chat about it. Ultimately, the discussion culminated in the first-ever TEDx talk at TCU. (The non-profit organization TED — Technology, Entertainment and Design — is renowned globally for its “ideas worth spreading” credo.) While about 100 students, faculty and staff members crowded into the Moudy North Auditorium in April for the hour-long event, what will last longer is a series of short essays students and a few faculty penned. Here’s a sampling.
