A picnic in Ireland. Street musicians in Krakow. An impromptu hike up the hills near Edinburgh and more are featured in the annual Study Abroad Photo Contest, designed to showcase student experiences and how they expand students’ minds and horizons.

Now the TCU Center for International Studies has launched a Certificate in International Studies, available to students of all majors who want to gain international competency and have international and intracultural experiences throughout their four years at TCU.

One-fourth of TCU’s students participate in more than 70 academic study abroad programs in more than 40 different countries, including the TCU-run programs in Florence, Italy; London, England; and Seville, Spain. Professors lead some of the summer programs, such as two new ones planned for next summer, which will focus on interdisciplinary approaches to global issues.”

Sally Clark went to the Czech Republic, where she encountered the John Lennon Wall, a structure in Prague decorated with graffiti inspired by the lyrics of John Lennon and the Beatles.

“The John Lennon Wall has come to be seen as a place to communicate one’s ideals on love and peace, especially from the youth,” says Clark, who snapped and entered the photo above, which she titled “Lennon Love.”

“Through this program I was really able to grow to become more accepting and loving of those around me,” she said, “And I realize that even if I don’t share the same beliefs or traditions as someone, they still deserve my love and respect.”
