Fashionable Masks
The Art Galleries at TCU’s fall exhibition, CREATE + PROTECT: Fashioning Safety in Times of Pandemic, called for artistic renditions of facial coverings.
“If I Must Wear a Mask,” a piece created by senior studio art major Brittany Murray, was named best in show. Made from fabric she designed and printed, Murray’s creation exemplified the evolution of face masks from personal protective equipment to a necessary fashion accessory. The exhibition, which was on display in the Mary Couts Burnett Library through November 2020 and is now available to view online, featured 23 sculptural and statement masks created by TCU students, faculty, staff and alumni.
