He’s a Pepper, too
Al Hoffman ’75 brought DP back to TCU and Brachman Hall.
In October 1974, Brachman Hall was home to Al Hoffman ’75, who loved Dr Pepper and was chagrined that machines carrying the drink were removed from the residence hall.
Determined to bring it back, he visited a local Dr Pepper bottler and convinced them to make him a wholesaler.
They did, and Hoffman peddled the soft drink in the dormitory’s kitchen on the honor system.
The TCU Daily Skiff made it a banner headline on Oct. 11, 1974: “Fans toast Dr Pepper’s return.” In the article, Hoffman summed up the ordeal: “It worked out great so far. Everybody likes it. Not everybody likes Dr Pepper, but they approve of the idea.”
