Featured Frog … Allen Wallach ’88, Concussion Advertising

Partner/chief executive officer of Fort Worth-based Concussion Advertising says grads should work to build their personal brand.

How has the TCU
Network benefited you in your career?  It has been invaluable. Thanks to the shared experiences and common bonds of the TCU Network, Concussion has grown to be one of the top advertising agencies in Fort Worth and the region. Not a day goes by that I don’t work for or with a fellow Horned Frog.

Have you accelerated possibilities as a result of your Horned Frog community? Yes, doors are opened more often and more quickly in business. Shared experiences and common bonds are the perfect ice breakers and ultimately lead to longer lasting relationships.

What opportunities and tools did TCU give you to be successful in life? Great faculty like Jack Raskopf provided wonderful guidance and preparation. We still keep in touch today. Also, internship opportunities while at TCU gave me a leg up on getting my first job.

Were opportunities opened up that otherwise would have been limited without your Horned Frog connections? Sure, when all else is equal in a competitive setting, the TCU connection is often the tie breaker.  It’s
not charity or nepotism, it’s a reliable qualifier and an important part of the vetting process.

Have you hired a Horned Frog?  Yes, more than 20 Horned Frogs have worked at Concussion.

What is your current involvement with TCU? Concussion has been fortunate to work with TCU Football over the past six years and helped to usher in the new Amon G. Carter Stadium. My wife, Kristin Deem Wallach ’89, and I also have served on the Fort Worth Alumni Board and various other event committees.

Why do you stay involved and why do you think it is important to stay connected to your alma mater? TCU is part of the fabric of Fort Worth, so there is a natural desire to stay connected. I take great pride in being part of its growth and continued success, and also feel obligated to give back however and whenever possible in a variety of ways. It is both fun and fulfilling to me, personally, and enriching to our community.

What is your message to the
students of today? Work hard on your personal brand and earn your spot in the TCU Network. Don’t seek to take advantage of or “game” the system for a short cut. We all trade on each other’s goodwill, so do it right, create value for your fellow Horned Frogs and benefit for a lifetime.
