More than a scholarship
Chancellor’s Scholars exemplify TCU’s mission of educating ethical leaders and responsible citizens in the global community.
This is a campus of dreamers, doers and trailblazers —and none more so than the Chancellor’s Scholars, who hold Texas Christian University’s most prestigious and valuable academic award.
This year, there are 188 Chancellor’s Scholars, including 65 freshmen.
Chancellor’s Scholars are our best and brightest, recruited from across the country and beyond our borders — academic achievers and student leaders who are enthusiastic about learning and eager to become involved. Their choice of majors is as diverse as their backgrounds, and their plans upon graduation reflect their wide range of interests.
What they all have in common is this: They exemplify TCU’s mission of educating ethical leaders and responsible citizens in the global community.
Dreamers
The Chancellor’s Scholarship is a golden opportunity for students who dream big. A recent note sent from a parent attending commencement captured the essence of how the TCU Chancellor’s Scholars program impacts lives and makes dreams become reality. The father wrote about his deep appreciation for the full academic scholarship and immeasurable gifts— “Gifts of social networking, gifts of starting out at a higher place in career advancement, gifts of knowledge and experience that will make a difference for a lifetime.”
This program opens doors for dreamers. Many of our students talk about leaving a legacy. They want to empower and motivate others to change the world.
Doers
One student notes that receiving this particular scholarship has given her a network of like-minded scholars and leaders all across campus.
She has become a more confident leader by gaining an understanding of how she fits into the bigger picture. This student is a “doer” who finds fulfillment by sharing her ideas and talents.
TCU’s small class sizes help students enhance writing and oratory skills. These skills prove beneficial in organizational settings throughout the campus community and transfer well to future career pursuits.
Trailblazers
Many TCU graduates attribute their success in the workplace and graduate school to the Chancellor’s Scholars program. The distinction has lasting impact as the program provides connections and sets forth possibilities. It also instills pride in the institution that provided the opportunity. It pleases me to hear one graduate say: “This scholarship allowed me to be part of a university that I am more proud of with each day.”
Chancellor’s Scholars succeed because they are studying among others who share their passion for learning. TCU provides this optimal setting where dreamers have no limits, where doers can thrive, and where trailblazers are encouraged to make a difference.
As always, thanks for your loyalty to TCU. Go Frogs!
