Accolades keep coming for Neeley School of Business

Busiess school ranked for MBA, entrepreneurship programs and overall undergraduate experience.

The latest round of rankings of America’s top business school programs came in in November, and the Neeley School of Business at TCU is once again among the best.

The Economist magazine selected the TCU MBA program No. 71 in the world in its ranking of international MBA programs, making it 40th among programs in the United States.

The ranking is the first time that the Neeley School has made the survey in The Economist’s prestigious rankings, which began in 2002. Only three other Texas-based programs were in the ranking: University of Texas McCombs at No. 28, Rice University Jones School at No. 39 and SMU Cox School at No. 82.

“The Neeley School’s mission is to develop ethical leaders with a global perspective who help shape the business environment. Note the key word: global. This recognition by The Economist as one of the best MBA programs in the world shows that we are, truly, a globally respected business school,” said O. Homer Erekson ’74, the John V. Roach dean of the Neeley School.

TCU qualified for The Economist’s list based on faculty quality, student quality, jobs found through career services, salary increases for graduates and depth of alumni network, all of which account for 80 percent of the ranking. Survey responses from students and recent graduates account for the other 20 percent.

In September, the Neeley School’s Entrepreneurship Program was picked No. 25 by The Princeton Review for Entrepreneur magazine. The school was based on surveys from administrators at nearly 2,000 business programs. The ranking appears in the October issue of Entrepreneur.

The annual list salutes the top 50 business school entrepreneurship programs — 25 undergraduate and 25 graduate — for their excellence in entrepreneurship education based on commitment inside and outside of the classroom; percentage of successful entrepreneurial faculty, students and alumni; mentorship programs; and scholarships and grants for entrepreneurial studies and projects.

“This ranking is the latest in a long list of accolades for our undergraduate entrepreneurship program, and it proves that we are committed to supporting the entrepreneurial journey of all TCU students,” Brad Hancock, Director of the Neeley Entrepreneurship Center, said. “With the annual Richards Barrentine Values and Ventures Business Plan Competition, we take that commitment even farther by welcoming undergraduate entrepreneurial students from around the world and rewarding plans for profitable businesses that exemplify service to their community and the world.”

The undergraduate Neeley Entrepreneurship Program is currently ranked No. 9 in the country by Bloomberg Businessweek.

In August, Neeley was tabbed No. 56 by the 2013 U.S. News & World Report ranking of the best undergraduate business programs. Neeley surged up 13 spots from last year’s ranking of 69th out of 484 business schools, based on a survey of deans and senior faculty at business schools accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
