Two TCU ROTC alums serving with U.S. forces in Afghanistan
Standing atop a building in Camp Phoenix, in Kabul is 1st Lt. Michael Barden ’10 (left) and 1st Lt. Henry Growald, who attended Columbia College. Both received a commission through TCU Army ROTC.
Barden is a Medical Service Corps officer and Growald is a Military Intelligence officer. At the time of the picture, we were both deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan, with 1-143rd Infantry (Airborne).
While deployed, Lt. Growald served as the Kabul Force Protection and Counter-terrorism Officer. Lt. Barden served as the Garrison Commander for Camp Alamo, home to NATO troops responsible for training the Afghan National Army.
