In spare moments away from studies and sports, the women’s soccer team decided to invest in the community. The result? In May, the team delivered a $7,000 check to Cook Children’s Hospital.
The money was raised through a soccer clinic for children that was run by players on the team.
“We’ve done a variety of things in the past, like food drives and visiting the children,” said senior Lizzy Karoly. “This spring, we wanted to do something different that would make more of an impact.”
Gary Cole, the vice president for development at the Cook Children’s Foundation, said the money will be used to remodel the waiting room at the hospital rehab clinics.
