TCU Magazine Podcast: Ron Pitcock’s Lesson on Cultural Memory
How will the coronavirus embed itself into the collective memory of the American people?
Host Mariana Rivas ’19 talks to Ron Pitcock, acting dean of the John V. Roach Honors College, who leads a course called Cultural Memory. The class examines how society interprets and remembers monumental events such as John F. Kennedy’s assassination and 9/11. In this podcast, Pitcock gives a mini-lesson — in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic — on what it means to have an event etched into the cumulative memory of a nation.
