Still the “Show Window”

Fox Sports Southwest highlights TCU Marching Band during “Inside TCU Football” segment.

Fox Sports Southwest featured the TCU Marching Band in a news segment titled “Inside TCU Football” last week, just in time for TCU’s homecoming.

The video gave viewers an inside look at the pride, honor, fun, energy, and, of course, hard work, TCU’s band members contribute to their craft each week.

With 205 members, the TCU Marching Band is nowhere near the largest band in the Big 12, but it is the self-proclaimed loudest. And, with members representing nearly every field of study, it offers a unique opportunity for anyone to express his or her musical interests. The band saw a 35 percent increase in membership this season over last, but it would like to add another 50 to 75 members, said Bobby Francis, director of Bands.

“Membership in our bands involves dedication, achievement and hard work,” Francis said. “I am continuously impressed with the talent and creativity that our students bring to the marching band. Their accolades are well deserved.”

Rightfully called the “Pride of TCU,” the award-winning band performs before an annual crowd of nearly half a million. Performances occur at all home football games, several away games, marching band festivals, pep rallies and for celebrated community events including the Fort Worth Stock Show Parade.

This year’s theme is Get Your Groove On and the band has an array of groovy dance music ready to perform.
