While alumni events are a great way to meet fellow Frogs and build your professional network in person, there’s a new virtual forum available 24-7.
Just check into the new TCU Networking Lounge on LinkedIn.
The site offers everything from insider tips on who is hiring to job postings to profiles of current students and recent grads. To get there, simply go to the Career Services website (careers.tcu.edu) then click on the LinkedIn logo at the bottom of the page.
Jenny Reitz, marketing coordinator for career services, says the group has quickly grown to more than 2,300 since launching last year.
“LinkedIn has become the new resume,” she says. “Everyone is going there.”
The group is designed to showcase employers who are recruiting on campus, build relationships between professionals looking to hire and potential candidates and better connect TCU alumni, students and community members.
And if you aren’t sure how to best use LinkedIn, don’t worry. Career Services can help with that too. The site offers tips on utilizing social media in a job search as well as overall networking tips. Students and alumni are also welcome to make an appointment with a career advisor, who can help them develop a career plan that leverages the benefits of offline and online networking opportunities. Call 817.257.2222 to set up an appointment.
In recent months, Career Services has also offered a series of webinars featuring authors and career experts tackling topics such as resume writing, personal branding and career exploration among others. Free, online webinars are offered live 7-8 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month, but if you can’t make that time, they are archived on the website.
