Sun, moon and culture
Geography students go on assignment in Mexico.
Beneath their feet is the Pirámide del Sol and behind them is the Pirámide de la Luna. It was quite a field trip for history professors Ben Tillman and Jeff Roet, who took 16 students from their Geography of Latin America and Urban Geography classes to Teotihuacán, Mexico, last fall.
In addition to the Mayan ruins, the classes took in modern and ancient Latin American culture during walking tours of Mexico City and surrounding landmarks and listened to guest lecturers. Students compiled photographs, ticket stubs, maps and journal entries for a graded notebook.
Not a bad assignment? Viva la Mexico!
