In May TCU hosted the 28th annual International Trumpet Guild Conference.
Horned Frog hospitality was enjoyed by more than 1,000 trumpeters in May when TCU hosted the 28th annual International Trumpet Guild Conference. From jazz and classical to Gospel and theatrical, the world’s foremost trumpet association tooted its horn in Fort Worth and delighted the campus and community for four days with a series of concerts, recitals, lectures, panel discussions and master classes.
Headliners included jazz legends Terence Blanchard and Carl Saunders, Gospel artist Phil Driscoll (above), BBC Philharmonic principal Patrick Addinall, noted Hollywood studio trumpeter Jon Lewis and France’s Ensemble de Trompettes de Lyon.
Joining the professionals were the TCU Trumpet Ensemble and 18 troupes of college musicians, whose solo and group performances showed the flair and aplomb worthy of the brassy main attraction — the trumpet.
