Photo Nancy Bartosek is an award-winning writer and editor who earned a communications degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1996. After a one-year stint as the higher-education writer at the Arlington Star-Telegram, she joined the magazine as assistant editor in 1997, then was named editor in 2001. Nancy has written stories from Wyoming, Belize and Romania. She has served as co-chair and faculty member for several CASE conferences. Her passions include traveling and gardening in her cozy backyard in Fort Worth, where she lives with husband Dennis Strini.

Rick Waters is a 1995 news-editorial journalism graduate of TCU. After a writing and copy editing career at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Corpus Christi Caller-Times and Lubbock Avalanche-Journal (and a brief side venture at Fort Worth architecture firm Carter & Burgess), he joined the magazine in 2001 as assistant editor. His interests include TCU athletics, politics, reading and following current events. He lives in Fort Worth with wife Cris, a 1997 TCU ballet and English grad, and son Ethan, 7, and daughter, Lucy, 3.

Tracy Sterling Bristol is a 1980 advertising communications graduate of TCU, whose background includes advertising, teaching and graphic design. She joined the magazine in 2001 as Art Director and loves musical theater, horses and anything her kids are involved in. She lives with her husband David
in Colleyville. Children Kate, 21, and Jack, 18, are at Pace University and TCU, respectively.

Kathryn Hopper is a 1986 English and journalism graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, who also earned a master’s degree in liberal studies from Duke University. Her journalism career includes stints at The Raleigh News & Observer, Greensboro News & Record and Fort Worth Star-Telegram, where she covered sports business. She joined the magazine in 2008 and lives in Southlake with her husband, Stuart, and sons James, 19 Henry, 16, Will, 14, and Andrew, 9.


Class Notes Editor: Rachel Stowe Master '91
Rachel Stowe Master is a longtime freelance writer and a 1991 English and marketing graduate of TCU. She worked in college textbook publishing before joining The Business Press, where she served as reporter, special sections editor and editor until "retiring" to full-time freelance writing when her first son was born. She began freelancing for The TCU Magazine in 2000 and joined the staff as Class Notes Editor in 2010. She and husband Kevin – a 1991 TCU MBA grad – live in Colleyville with sons Caden, 12; Jace, 10; and Reid, 8, their two dogs, two horses, cat and chinchilla. She loves cheering for the Colleyville Horned Frogs baseball teams and the TCU Frogs!

Marcia Melton was secretary to the chair of the Modern Languages and Literatures Department at TCU from 1979 to 1984 before joining the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in 1985, where she worked as a secretary and a news researcher and photo archivist. She attended the University of Texas at Arlington and TCU. Marcia lives in Fort Worth with her husband Charles Capel and has two sons, Tom Cummings and Andy Cummings, and two grandsons Harper and Harrison Cummings.
